Black History Month
February 1, 2022 - February 28, 2022

Celebrate Black History Month
Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the leading historian, scholar, activist, and educator of his time, began the observance in February 1926 as “Negro History Week”. He selected the second week for the observance because it encompassed the birthdays of President Abraham Lincoln on the 12th and Frederick Douglass on the 14th. In 1976, the week was expanded into an entire month.
